A fundação da cidade remonta à Idade do Ferro cerca de 400 a.C. Foi no período Romano que a cidade ganhou maior importância , tendo o nome de Pax-Júlia. Depois da queda do Império Romano, dominaram povos como os Visigodos. Do século VIII ao ano de 1162, este sobre a posse dos Árabes. Nesse ano, os cristãos reconquistaram definitivamente a cidade. Desde a sua fundação, vários povos deixaram um vasto património que espera a sua visita.

About Beja
